[Video] Nas Daily Is in Vietnam to Remind Us Why We're Happy

If you’re not content with your life right now, fret not, for travel video blogger Nas Daily is here in the flesh to remind you why Vietnam is a deliriously happy country.

In a staggeringly popular vlog posted on November 8, Nas announced that he and his team recently landed in Vietnam and will be releasing eight videos about the Southeast Asian country. Throughout his visit, he has been accompanied by Vietnamese livestreamer Pewpew, while YouTuber Giang Oi also made a cameo in the announcement video, which had garnered more than 500,000 likes at the time of writing.

Nas Daily is the official Facebook page of Palestinian-Israeli travel vlogger Nuseir Yassin. Yassin was working for the US-based mobile payment app Venmo when he decided to quit and travel the world. During his world tour, he made a goal to create a one-minute video every day for 1,000 days, posting them on the Nas Daily Facebook page (“nas” means people in Arabic).

The video series elevated him to global influencer status, amassing millions of fans around the world. Nas Daily is now a video corporation releasing weekly videos, which are then subtitled in various languages — from Spanish to Hindi. The Vietnamese-language page of Nas Daily currently has close to a million followers.

Nas’ Vietnam video prologue has all his classic tropes: crowds of locals chanting their hometown’s name out loud, cheery music and slow-motion shots of people smiling awkwardly. So far, reactions from Vietnamese netizens have been largely positive, as they have praised Nas for his positive portrayal of the country. Still, when vlogger Pewpew lists reasons why he thinks Vietnam is a happy country, some commented that these are overly simplistic and rather naïve, as the list completely glossed over the nation’s pressing ailments like air pollution, poverty and environmental degradation.
