Last month, the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP) announced the winners for their annual photo contest and five Vietnamese photographers found themselves in the top 27.
According to the CGAP website, the winning Vietnamese were Le Minh Quoc Do Hieu Liem, Loc Mai, Ngo Phuc Quang and Tran Van Tuy.
An aerial view of two women crossing a sand dune against the morning sun, Le Minh Quoc’s picture, “Overcoming Sandhill,” won the SE Asia and Pacific Category. “The picture makes you curious how the photographer took it”, commented Washington Post photographer, Nicole Crowde, Zing reports.
The first prize was bestowed upon Indian photographer, Sujan Sarkar, for his picture, “Paddy Cultivation,” that “brings so much beauty to the act of farming, which others might say is dirty or uncomfortable,” said the judges, adding that the photo’s “composition is stunning.”
For his winning photo, Sarkar took home US$2,000 worth of photography equipment and his work will be featured on the Times Square Jumbotron in New York City.
The contest received over 3,000 entries from both amateur and professional photographers from over 70 countries across the globe.
