As of Monday, September 7, all train, vehicle and air travel to and within Da Nang will return to normal.
The Ministry of Transportation made the announcement on Sunday, saying that all passenger activity can return to pre-COVID-19 outbreak levels. All passengers on public transportation, however, will be required to wear masks and submit a medical report, while those riding in vehicles must implement social distancing. To start, Vietnam Airlines will operate one daily flight from the city to both Hanoi and Saigon.
The decision comes after the city's strict social distancing rules, which included the cessation of all take-out food orders, were eased on September 5. While restaurants are allowed to resume take-out and delivery services, they cannot open for in-person dining.
Other non-essential services such as karaoke bars, massage parlors and cinemas must remain closed, and schools have not been given the go-ahead to resume classes, which typically begin on September 5. Public gatherings have been capped at 20 people. Residents are still advised to only leave their homes when it is absolutely necessary and shop every three days using entrance tickets provided by local officials.
Transportation was cut off to and from the city on July 28 following the July 25 positive COVID-19 test results that ended Vietnam's three-month streak without a community-transmitted case. The city had experienced eights days without a new case as of this morning. The city has implemented an aggressive testing policy with the aim of testing more than 1.1 million residents.
