Maybe just don't build glass bridges?
In the latest development in an inane saga that has unfurled over the last week, Tuoi Tre News reports that Lai Châu Province officials have told the owner of a glass bridge in the area to replace a glass panel that has been the subject of much social media furor.
The bridge in question is at the Rồng Mây Tourist Area along the Ô Quy Hồ Pass, which links Lai Châu to Lào Cai Province. The Rồng Mây Glass Bridge opened in 2019 and spans 500 meters, including a section that juts out from the edge of a cliff.
Last week, a visitor posted a TikTok video showing what appeared to be a shattered glass panel along the bridge, with hundreds of meters of open space below it. The video went viral, with netizens questioning the safety of the arguably unnecessary structure.
Over the weekend, officials inspected the bridge after the company which owns it said the cracked glass was simply an "effect" to provide more excitement, while there were three layers of tempered glass below the "cracked" panel.
According to the news source, authorities concurred that the glass wasn't actually broken, but nonetheless ordered that the panel be replaced, as it does not comply with safety rules. As of this writing, it is not known when the panel in question will be replaced.
